The Relevance and Necessity of Miruna Magar in ‘Janai Harayeko Manche’

In the Nepali film industry, Miruna Magar can be considered one of the luckiest actresses. Comparatively, she has seen more successful films than failures.

After her initial films, once she was established, Miruna delivered back-to-back hits. ‘Kabaddi 4: The Final Match’, ‘Jaari’, and ‘Nango Gau’ were all commercial successes, marking her first hat-trick of hits.

Although ‘Rangeeli’ and ‘Mansara’ were less successful, her next releases ‘Gharjwai’ and ‘Unko Sweater’ turned out to be hits again. Now, with the upcoming release of ‘Janai Haraeko Manche: Sambandhka Dhagaharu’, there is speculation that she may achieve her second hat-trick.

“Just like my past successful projects, I’m getting positive vibes from this one as well,” says Miruna. “I’m confident the audience will love it.”

The film, directed by Himal Neupane, is slated to release on Bhadra 6 (August 22). Manish Raut, who previously played the lead in ‘Prem Geet 3’, is stepping into the role of associate director for this project.

“This film reflects the challenges faced by Nepal’s lower and middle-class citizens,” says Raut. “It has been designed in line with Nepali audience preferences and tells a story that resonates with all.”

Raut adds, “Everyone has lost something — be it a thing, a relationship, or a sense of self. This isn’t just a story of a particular community, but a shared story for all Nepalis. That’s why we chose Miruna Magar for the lead.”

The film also stars Vijay Baral, Keki Adhikari, Sushank Mainali, Gaurav Pahadi, Bhola Raj Sapkota, Riar Rai, Tara Sharma, Bhawana Khapangi Magar, Rupesh Lama, and Suman Thapa.

Produced under the Paperclip banner by Kamal Neupane and Bimal Neupane, the film’s executive producers are Narayan Timilsina, Chudamani Sibakoti, RK Manandhar, CR Basnet, Philip DC, and James Maharjan.

The film features music by Thaneshwor Gautam, Arjun Pokhrel, SD Yogi, and Prashant Sibakoti; cinematography by Navin Gurung and Krishna Pariyar.

Story, screenplay, and dialogue are written by Bhanubhakta Dhakal. Dinesh Bahadur Raut serves as the chief assistant director, with Tarkaraj Neupane, Rabindra Nepal, Monika Thapa, and Akash KC as assistant directors. Laxmanraj Paudel is the production controller.

Govinda Shahi’s Kafiya Films is handling distribution. This will be Vijay Baral’s first lead role since the all-time blockbuster ‘Purnabahadurko Sarangi’.
