The emotional track ‘Maali’ from the upcoming Nepali film ‘Abhimanyu: Chapter–1’ has been officially released. The song was launched today, coinciding with the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, and the makers also announced a video contest alongside its release.

The song is written, composed, and sung by Prashant Shivakoti, with Bisham Acharya handling the music arrangement. Shivakoti is the same composer who sang several popular tracks in the film ‘Purnabahadurko Sarangi’.

‘Maali’ tells the story of the pure bond and responsibility between a brother and sister. The song attempts to portray a brother’s love and the emotional responsibility he carries for his sister — much like a gardener (maali) tending to his cherished garden.

According to the production team, the song was released in the spirit of Raksha Bandhan. In addition, they’ve launched a video contest where they stated:

“We encourage brothers and sisters to share videos of Rakhi celebrations using this song. The top three videos will win Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000, and Rs. 15,000 respectively.”

The film ‘Abhimanyu: Chapter–1’ is set to release in Nepali on Bhadra 27 (September 12), while the Hindi version will release worldwide on Asoj 6 (September 22), as per producer Vinod Poudel.

Currently in post-production, the film stars Kameshwar Chaurasiya, Sarita Giri, Gaumaya Gurung, Laxmi Bardewa, Shishir Wangel, Kiran Shrestha, Prakash Dahal, and Sushma Niraula in lead roles.

Presented by Seven Seas Cinema, the film is directed by Sushant Gautam, marking his directorial debut. The story is written by Mukesh Khanal, and Madan Thapa serves as the creative director.

The producers are Vinod Poudel and Gunjan Giri, with Ramesh Chaulagai and Hari Shrestha as co-producers. Executive producers include Bishal Lama, Hari Moktan, Krishna Bhattarai, Nirajan Luintel, and Sandesh Shrestha.

The film features Jeevan Shakya as line producer, Manoj Shrestha for VFX, Supreme Parajuli for color grading, Madan Ghimire as editor, and Sharad Mahato as Director of Photography.
