The Nepali film Cetaaamol, which premiered on Friday, 23rd Shrawan, has received positive feedback from viewers. Since its opening day, the film has been well-received, with theaters across the country seeing good attendance even on the day of Japi Purnima.
The production team, including actor Saugat Malla and actress Benisha Hamal, visited various theaters across Kathmandu Valley to interact with audiences. Many viewers who watched the film expressed that the storyline touched their hearts deeply and even brought them to tears by the end.
On the same day, senior leaders from the UML-affiliated student organization, including President Dr. Sujan Kadariya, Vice President Anjana Siwakoti, and Deputy General Secretary Kamal Joshi, also watched the film. They praised the film for its subtle portrayal of the struggles faced by injured combatants of the armed people’s war and the people of Karnali Province who still lack access to basic medicines like Cetaaamol. They emphasized the need for the state to pay attention to Karnali’s situation and urged all Nepalis to watch this important film.
Cetaaamol centers on the story of a former Maoist commander and effectively highlights the issue of the People’s War. Many viewers related to the film and were emotionally moved by several scenes.
Actor Saugat Malla said, “I haven’t been able to watch the whole film myself because I’ve been busy meeting audiences, but hearing their reactions makes me happy. It feels like our hard work has paid off.” He added that the majority of the audience attending the screenings are young people.
Lead actress Benisha Hamal also expressed her emotions after seeing the heartfelt responses. She said, “Honestly, I haven’t slept all night. I was very anxious about how the film would be received, especially since two of my films were released at the same time. Both films are equally important to me. I’m deeply moved by the positive response to Cetaaamol, especially because it’s a touching story that has made many viewers cry.”
Directed by Raj Bahadur Sane, the film stars Saugat Malla, Benisha Hamal, Shree Krishna Niraula, Januka Bishwakarma, Lokendra Lekhak, Bhugol Karki, Hiwala Gautam, Sushil Pokhrel, Dinesh Regmi, RR Khadka, Gyanu Malla, Pawan Bhattarai, Kajal Bhujel, and child artists Karan Nepali and Aradhya Rajyalaxmi DC. Shree Krishna and Januka made their Nepali film debuts with this project.
Produced by Tulsi Devi Films Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with Juntara Films, the story was written by Pradeep Bharadhvaj and directed by Raj Bahadur Sane. Bhugol Kumar Karki and Bikash Raj Joshi are producers, with Apsara Nepali, Ajay Malla, and Kumar KC as executive producers, and Gangaram Shrestha as co-producer.
