‘Mohar’ Sees Impressive Box Office Growth

Nepali film Mohar, which released on Friday, is showing aggressive box office growth. After a moderate opening day, Saturday saw a remarkable surge in collections. While morning shows were average, the crowd grew significantly from midday onwards.

Not just in Kathmandu, but evening shows across various cities also saw high occupancy. Some theaters in Nepalgunj even cut down on Hindi film screenings to add more shows for Mohar. The film is also performing well in Pokhara, Butwal, and Chitwan.

On Saturday, director Om Pratik, actor Paul Shah, and lead actresses Benisha Hamal and Niti Shah visited theaters in Kathmandu, greeting audiences. Asthanarayan Hall in Kathmandu saw a large turnout. Paul Shah thanked viewers, while Benisha Hamal and Niti Shah expressed excitement over the strong audience support and positive word of mouth.

Sunday also brought strong business, with high occupancy in both Kathmandu and outside regions, according to distributor Karan Shrestha, who noted that Mohar has broken the months-long commercial drought in the Nepali film market.

Produced under the banner of Film Makers Pvt. Ltd. and funded by Chumban Jung Shahi, Mohar continues to generate buzz. Paul Shah is currently visiting theaters in eastern Nepal, while Benisha Hamal and Niti Shah are engaging with audiences in Kathmandu. The production team believes the film’s strong word of mouth will sustain its momentum in the coming days.
