The teaser for Jaari-2: Song of Chyabrung, slated for release on Ashoj 3, has been officially unveiled.
The teaser spotlights the cultural identity of the Limbu community, weaving its narrative around the traditional Chyabrung drum. Opening with a striking line comparing a Limbu who cannot perform the Chyabrung dance to a “naked” mountain, the 2-minute, 34-second preview hints at a storyline that frames the Chyabrung as an expression of Limbu joy and pride.
It signals that the film will explore themes rooted in cultural heritage, set against the social and familial highs and lows of the community.
Written and directed by Upendra Subba, the project is produced by Rambabu Gurung, Madhu Mijar, and Jeevan Gurung. The film stars Dayahang Rai, Miruna Magar, and Bijay Baral in the lead roles, with a strong supporting cast including Buddhi Tamang, Richa Sharma, Pushkar Gurung, Prem Subba, Mao Tse Gurung, Manhang Lawati, Bishnu Moktan, Kamal Mani Nepal, Anil Subba, Rekha Limbu, Bedana Rai, and Sirjana Ninglekhu.
Produced under the banners of Bansuri Films and Kabaddi Films, Jaari-2 is positioned among this year’s most commercially promising releases. Its predecessor, Jaari, was a blockbuster in 2080 B.S., grossing more than NPR 170 million at the Nepali box office. Since the sequel’s announcement, it has been one of the most anticipated titles of the year, with strong expectations to match or surpass the commercial success of the original.
