The Nepali film ‘Satidevi’ is set to have a special screening on Saturday, Saun 31 (16th August) in Virginia, USA. The special show is organized to honor women on the occasion of the great festival of Teej, announced organizer Pushkar Pant.
Pushkar Pant, who has been residing in the USA for a long time, is actively involved in Nepali film production, acting, and social work. He stated that since ‘Satidevi’ is a nationally acclaimed, award-winning film, they decided to hold a special screening.
Pushkar explained that having heard much praise about ‘Satidevi’ and believing that such original and family-oriented films should be made more and watched by many, they decided to organize the special show. “Wherever we are, everyone must take initiatives to preserve Nepali art, culture, originality, and identity,” he added.
Pant, who also produced the hit film ‘Thuli’ directed by Everest Surya Bohara, expressed his excitement to watch ‘Satidevi’.
The women-centric film ‘Satidevi’, which won the Special Film Award at the National Film Awards 2079 (2022) organized by the Film Development Board, has won over a dozen prestigious awards nationally.
Written, produced, and directed by Laxman Subedi, the film features performances by Malika Mahat, Ramesh Budhathoki, Sandip Babu Lohani, Kulbahadur Adhikari, Srijana Adhikari, child artist Harshika Wali, and Manjila Baniya among others.
Presented by Dilasa Creations in collaboration with Golden State Movie Makers LLC California, the producers of the film include Dilasa, Sara, Shridevi, and Bishal Subedi.
Director Laxman Subedi informed that after Virginia, special screenings of ‘Satidevi’ will also be held in other states across the USA.
