The much-awaited Nepali film ‘Balidan’ has officially unveiled its teaser. Directed by Santosh Sen, the teaser ignites a fire of anger, patriotism, and justice in just a matter of seconds.
Scheduled for release on Phulpati during this year’s Dashain festival, the teaser opens with a dramatic announcement—part of the nation has fallen under enemy siege, and stopping them seems impossible. In the backdrop, actor Saugat Malla is seen standing firm, holding a torch with unwavering resolve. This is followed by the powerful voice of actor Hemant Budhathoki, expressing a heartfelt offering of blood at the feet of Goddess Kalimataa, signifying the culmination of a sacred sacrifice. He is portrayed in regal attire, while Arpan Thapa embodies a commanding political leader.
The emotional core of the teaser lies in actress Richa Sharma’s dialogue: “When the innocent are slaughtered, and those demons laugh in your face, why do you remain silent? Has this earth stopped giving birth to heroes who can slay those demons?” This line, delivered before a grand statue of Kalimataa, is juxtaposed with visuals of indigenous communities in the jungle—where director Sen himself makes an appearance as a tribal character.
The teaser intensifies with the entrance of actor Samir Bhatt, introduced as the ‘Action King.’ Showcasing high-octane fight sequences, Bhatt delivers a powerful line: “This mother is neither helpless, nor is her womb barren. She has not only given birth to sons, but to warriors as well.” The punch he lands on his adversary, accompanied by his fierce presence, becomes a major highlight of the teaser.
The teaser concludes with glimpses of other cast members and an epic fight scene of Bhatt wielding a massive spear, fading into the film’s title card. Director Santosh Sen, during the teaser launch, remarked that ‘Balidan’ is not just a film but a symbol of rebellion within every Nepali heart. In his words: “Born out of three years of blood and sweat, the fragrance of the soil, and the cries of the silenced, ‘Balidan’ is no longer just a film—it is an eruption of justice.”
Earlier, a pre-teaser released on Samir Bhatt’s birthday had trended in more than a dozen countries, including Nepal, thanks to its patriotic dialogues and intense action. Taking the promotional campaign to new heights, the producers have also launched a nationwide ‘Balidan Banner Campaign’ with massive banners displayed across the country.
Produced under the banner of Asusen Films Pvt. Ltd., the film stars Samir Bhatt, Saugat Malla, Arpan Thapa, Richa Sharma, Kavita Rai, Hemant Budhathoki, Prem Puri, among others. The film is produced by Pawan Bradford Bista, with Prem Puri serving as the executive producer. ‘Balidan’ is expected to be remembered as a bold milestone in the history of Nepali cinema.
