The 12th edition of the Chhaya Chhabi Teej Music Award, organized annually by Chhaya Chhabi Creation, has been successfully concluded. Marking the festival of women and recognized as a celebration of folk culture and music, the award ceremony honored Teej songs released during the year with 18 awards, 6 felicitations, and 1 special award.
At the event held at Levi’s Garden, Sukedhara, the Chhaya Chhabi Dipasha Memorial Award, established last year, was presented to model artist Sanchita Sahil. The award, which carries a cash prize of Rs. 11,000, was awarded to model artist Anju Niraula last year.
Similarly, six female artists were honored during this year’s Teej Music Award. Singer Geeta Bhattarai, singer and actress Sarika Ghimire, singer Anju Shrestha, beauticians Sangeeta Rana Magar and Apsana Newa Hayu were felicitated at the program. In addition, under the Teej Women Honor, singer Sushila Basnet Timilsina from Western America was awarded the Diaspora Honor. The honors were presented by Film Development Board Chairperson Dinesh DC, veteran singer Devika Bandana, Award Chairperson Shantipriya, and Award Coordinator Krishna Acharya Roshni.
The award ceremony also featured dance and musical performances. Arya Koirala and Dimple Nagarkoti performed dances, while singers Anju Shrestha and Rekha Shah delivered musical performances. Distinguished guests included Film Development Board Chairperson Dinesh DC and veteran singer Devika Bandana, while literary figure Radheshyam Nepali, cultural worker RC Koirala, singer Manju Thapa, lyricist Kastup Pant, along with various film and music personalities, were present. Chhaya Chhabi Chairperson Shantipriya highlighted the objectives of the award. The program was hosted by Deepjyoti Thapa.
