A new television program is set to premiere soon with the aim of fostering deep discussions, logical debates, and powerful dialogues for Nepali viewers. Presented by Moonlight Motion Pictures, the show Kathghara will air right after Tihar.
The first season will feature 18 episodes. As the name Kathghara (meaning “the witness stand”) suggests, the program will invite prominent figures from politics, society, and the arts, putting them “on the stand.” The guests’ lives, thoughts, contributions, and even controversies will be openly discussed. The purpose of the show is not only to highlight achievements but also to boldly raise questions and criticisms tied to their public life.
The program will be hosted by one of Nepal’s dynamic media personalities, Tika Ram Yatri. Known as a journalist, television presenter, and writer, Yatri has earned recognition for hosting shows centered on contemporary political and social issues. He has consistently voiced strong opinions on social justice, good governance, and citizens’ rights, and has hosted several popular talk shows in the past. Because of his analytical style, he is regarded as an intellectual figure in Nepali journalism.
Direction will be handled by the versatile Nepali entertainment director Aman Pratap Adhikari. He has directed acclaimed shows such as Himalaya Roadies, Ko Banchha Crorepati, Aaina, and Kripa Unplugged. Most recently, he has been active as the director of the poetry reality show Poet Idol. Beyond television, he is also a former A-Division football player and commentator. A graduate of Edinburgh College in Scotland with a diploma in Filmmaking and Television Production, Adhikari is the son of noted poet and lyricist Chhetrapratap Adhikari.
The program’s producer is Santosh Bhandari, who expressed confidence that the show will reach audiences with a powerful presentation. Kathghara will be broadcast on AP1 Television, while its digital rights have been acquired by OSR Digital.
