Has Khabapu Forgotten His Own Film While Promoting Everyone Else’s?

Khagda Bahadur Pun Magar, popularly known as Khabapu and the first runner-up of Comedy Champion, is all set to star in his upcoming film “Chitthi”, releasing on September 5 (Bhadra 20).

But as the release date approaches, one can’t help but wonder—has Khabapu neglected his own project?

Just a few days ago, the official trailer of “Chitthi” was unveiled. Strangely enough, while Khabapu has been busy sharing posts, attending premieres, and wishing good luck to other films, he hasn’t shared the trailer of his very own movie.

Is it just his hectic schedule? If so, how come he still finds time to attend premieres of other films? In fact, he was spotted at the premiere of “Kosedhunga” just yesterday, even posting his reactions about the film on Facebook.

May be an image of 4 people, people smiling and text that says 'नरदेवीकित्मसनरा नंद्रीकिनस्मासि.

This raises a serious question—if the lead actor himself shows such indifference, how will the film ever reach the audience it deserves? At a time when even heavily promoted films struggle to pull crowds into theaters, Khabapu’s silence feels almost alarming.

A quick look at his social media suggests the same: apart from sharing one song from “Chitthi”, there’s hardly any promotion. Instead, his feed is filled with posts about his shows and his friends’ projects.

So why is Khabapu not prioritizing his own film? Is it because he feels “Chitthi”—a small-scale project—won’t perform well, especially when bigger, heavily marketed films like “Basanta” couldn’t deliver? Or is there an unspoken rift with the makers that’s keeping him quiet?

Whatever the reason, one thing is clear: as the face of the film, Khabapu carries a responsibility to stand behind it. Let’s hope there’s no conflict with the makers—because later, when it’s time to take pride in “my film”, today’s indifference might come back to haunt him.
