Bijay-Barsha Kick Off New Film ‘Malati Mangaley’ with a Grand Muhurat Ceremony

 Popular singer Ram Krishna Dhakal is officially stepping into film production with his debut venture “Malati Mangaley.” The project had its grand muhurat on Thursday at the Mahadevsthan temple in Koteshwor, where script and camera rituals were performed before the first clapboard was given by Dhakal’s father, Gopal Karmacharya. To mark the occasion, lead stars Vijay Baral and Barsha Raut enacted the very first scene, formally launching the shoot.

Producer–singer Dhakal, who has been one of the most celebrated voices of Nepal, promised to deliver a “quality and soulful film” that reflects Nepali society. The lead trio—Vijay Baral, Barsha Raut, and Meksham Gaudel—shared their excitement, expressing confidence that “Malati Mangaley” will become a milestone in their acting careers.

The star-studded cast also includes Suvarn Thapa, Prakash Ghimire, Sarita Giri, Sushma Niraula, Sunil Tamang, Umesh Sunam, Shaku Shah, Suchitra Upreti, Dinesh Shahi, Rijun Pariyar, Tara Sharma, Geeta Shri, Raj Pangeni, Sushmita Gurung, and Sagar Bhattarai, among others. Directed by Praku Pandey, the film is based on his own story, while the screenplay and dialogues have been crafted by Guragain. The makers describe it as a family–oriented romantic drama.

According to executive producer Sagar Gyawali, the main shoot will take place across the scenic landscapes of Tanahun and Syangja districts, starting this Saturday. The film is being produced under the banner of Rani Music International Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with Uni Entertainment. Alongside Dhakal, co-producers include Rabin Shrestha, Babu Subedi, Manoj Bajgain, and Ishwar Bajgain.

The technical team brings in big names too—Mahesh Paudel as cinematographer, Romi Tandukar as editor, and Krishna Bhandari as color supervisor. Lyrics will be penned by Rajendra Thapa, Anand Adhikari, Gopal Adhikari, and Hark Saud, while the music lineup features Hari Lamsal, Rajan Raj Siwakoti, SD Yogi, and Ujjwal Sagar. Costume design will be handled by Ravi Pokharel, with Manoj Bogati as art director, Rijun Pariyar as production designer, and Shishir Pokharel as chief assistant director.

With such a star cast, a hit-making music team, and Dhakal’s emotional investment, the buzz is already building—“Malati Mangaley” might just become one of the most talked-about Nepali films of the year.
