The Film Development Board successfully organized the “Special Filmmaker Identity Card Distribution Ceremony” at its building in Chabahil. The event was graced by chief guest Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung and Secretary of the Ministry Radhika Aryal, with the participation of several prominent figures from the film industry.
Board Chairperson Dinesh D.C. urged filmmakers to embrace the identity card as “a recognition granted by the nation”, adding that it would bring dignity to film professionals. He remarked, “We have included as many facilities as possible in the card, but even without them, this card itself is the recognition of being a filmmaker. Accepting it is a matter of pride. Additional facilities will certainly be added in the future.”
Minister Gurung, as the chief guest, acknowledged the contributions of filmmakers and announced health insurance worth Rs. 150,000 for special cardholders and Rs. 75,000 for regular cardholders. He further stated the government’s commitment to the prosperity of the film industry and urged for the grand celebration of National Film Day on Asoj 15.
According to Chairperson D.C., filmmakers who have contributed to the industry for 20 to 30 years were honored with the identity cards this time. Among the 86 recipients were actors Bishwo Basnet, Deepak Raj Giri, Ramesh Upreti, Deepashree Niraula, Jitu Nepal, Sunil Thapa, Sharda Giri, Pradeep Kumar Uday, and Purushottam Pradhan.
