Grand Premiere of Rimai Held Ahead of Nationwide Release

On Wednesday evening, a grand premiere of the film Rimai was organized at Ranjana Cineplex, New Road, on the eve of its nationwide release this Friday, Bhadra 20. The event saw a strong presence of film personalities and entertainment journalists.

Before the premiere screening, the Gurung community presented a traditional cultural performance, Sorathi Naach. Lead actors Dayahang Rai and Rishma Gurung appeared in traditional Gurung attire, adding to the cultural significance of the event.

Notable attendees included director Gyanendra Deuja, filmmaker Deepak Acharya (Kaku), Anil Yonjan, actor-director Wilson Bikram Rai, and Rohit Rumba, among others.

After watching the film, Wilson Bikram Rai praised Rimai as a deeply moving work, calling it one of the finest films ever made about the Gurung community. Actor-director Mao Tse Gurung also lauded the film, urging audiences from all communities to support it.

Lead actress Rishma Gurung, making her comeback after nearly eight years, shared her excitement:

“I’ve been living in the U.S. where the Nepali community is very small. Watching Rimai reminded me of everything I had missed. It felt like a fresh new experience. The film is beautifully made, and I believe audiences will be drawn to see Kazi and Maiya’s pairing return to the screen after so long.”

Director Khil Bahadur Gurung expressed joy at seeing three years of hard work come to fruition:

“We made this film with honesty and dedication. The positive response from today’s premiere gives us confidence that it will also succeed commercially.”

Presented by Gorkha Siranchok & Ligligkot Films in collaboration with Roteping Entertainment, Rimai features Dayahang Rai, Arpan Thapa, Rishma Gurung, Gaumaya Gurung, Kavita Ale Magar, Mao Tse Gurung, Pushkar Gurung, Veermaya Gurung, Veerbal Ghale, DB Gurung, Tek Gurung, along with child actors Asim Subba, Prestu Gurung, and Prashna Rana Magar.

The screenplay was written by poet-director Upendra Subba, with cinematography by Shailendra Dhoj Karki. Veerbal Ghale serves as executive producer, with Tika Gurung, Jit Yatri Gurung, and Duna Bahadur Ghale as producers, and Binu Gurung, Roshan Bhattarai, and Rajesh Ghimire as co-producers.

Directed by Khil Bahadur Gurung, the film features music by Deepak Sharma and Thaneshwar Gautam, editing by Mitra D. Gurung, and production management by Bishnu Mainali. Assistant direction was handled by Kiran Chamling Rai.

Rimai is set to release nationwide on Bhadra 20.
