The highly anticipated Nepali film Balidan has released its OST song “Yo Jyan Balidan” in a lyrical format. The song is composed and sung by Sujan Chapagain, with lyrics penned by Hark Saud.
The song portrays a son’s emotional devotion to his mother and the motherland, expressing the message that life is nurtured in the embrace of both. It conveys the sentiment of being ready to sacrifice even one’s life in the name of one’s mother and nation. Through the protagonist’s voice, the song highlights deep love, sacrifice, and patriotism.
The music arrangement is by Kovid Bajra, with backing vocals from Vivek Jha, Kriti Nepali, and Kovid Bajra. Mixing and mastering were also handled by Kovid Bajra.
At the song’s release, director Santosh Sen recalled that his dream to contribute to the nation through art had emerged three years ago. “A love story can provide entertainment, but it cannot show the wounds of the nation. As injustice continued to surround the citizens, I felt art must depict how far a youth can go for his mother and motherland. From this thought, Balidan was born,” he said. He further added, “Today, the bloodshed of Gen Z has given the nation a new era. That’s why Balidan is not merely imagination but a reflection of reality. It is not just dialogue on the screen, but the cry of the nation’s wounds.”
Produced under the banner of Asusen Films Pvt. Ltd., Balidan is written by Darshan Ji, with Pawan Bradford Bista as producer and Prem Puri as executive producer. The film stars Samir Bhatt, Saugat Malla, Richa Sharma, Arpan Thapa, Kavita Rai, Hemant Budhathoki, Santosh Sen, Prem Puri, Kameshwor Chaurasiya, Prajwal Dulal, Jivan Baral, and Ritesh Jung Paudel, among others.
Following the much-discussed poster, pre-teaser, and teaser, the release of the OST song has further heightened excitement for the film. Director Sen has also announced that the trailer will be released within a few days. The film is set to release nationwide on Fulpati (Ashoj 13) during the Dashain festival.
