Nepal has officially selected Anjila as its entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards, scheduled to be held in 2026.
The International Feature Film Selection Committee (Nepal), under the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, made the announcement through a press release on Thursday.
According to the statement issued by Committee Chair Bimal Paudel, two Nepali narrative films — Gunyu Cholo: The Dress and Anjila — were submitted for consideration this year. After a detailed evaluation of their technical merits, storytelling approach, emotional depth of characters, and artistic craftsmanship, Anjila was chosen to represent Nepal.
With this decision, Anjila will now serve as Nepal’s official submission in the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards.
