The release of the highly anticipated film Abhimanyu: Chapter 1 has once again been rescheduled. Originally slated for release on Asoj 13 (Phulpati during the Dashain festival), the film will now hit theaters on Asoj 24.
The producers, through an official statement issued on Sunday, announced the decision to push back the release date. They explained that with four Nepali films set to release on Asoj 13, there were growing concerns over limited show availability. Taking into account requests from exhibitors and distributors, the team opted for a new release date.
The film will be released simultaneously in both Nepali and Hindi languages across Nepal, India, and worldwide.
The statement reads:
“We had initially planned to release Abhimanyu: Chapter 1 on Bhadra 27, but the nationwide Gen-Z movement compelled us to postpone. Since our marketing materials had already been circulated and with multiple Nepali films releasing on Asoj 13, cinema halls would face difficulty allocating sufficient shows. Moreover, this situation could negatively affect other Nepali films as well. Considering these factors, we have finalized Asoj 24 as the auspicious release date. On this day, the film will be released in both Nepali and Hindi across Nepal and globally. We sincerely appreciate your continuous support and apologize to distributors, exhibitors, audiences, and the media at home and abroad for any inconvenience caused by this change.”
This time, the film will enjoy a solo release, which the production team considers a favorable opportunity.
Presented by Seven Seas Cinema, Abhimanyu: Chapter 1 features Kameshwar Chaurasiya, Sarita Giri, Kiran Shrestha, Laxmi Bardewa, Gaumaya Gurung, Prakash Dahal, and Shishir Wangdel in leading roles.
The film is directed by Sushant Gautam, with Madan Thapa as the creative director and screenplay written by Mukesh Khanal.
The producers are Binod Paudel and Gunjan Giri, with co-producers Ramesh Chaulagain and Hari Shrestha. The executive producers include Bishal Lama, Hari Moktan, Krishna Bhattarai, Nirajan Luintel, and Sandesh Shrestha, while Jeevan Shakya serves as line producer.
With cinematography by Sharad Mahato, the film also features VFX by Manoj Shrestha, color grading by Junim Gahtoraj, and editing by Madan Ghimire.
Releasing worldwide in both Nepali and Hindi from Asoj 24, Abhimanyu: Chapter 1 is being regarded as a significant opportunity for Nepali cinema on the global stage.
