Kathmandu: The official announcement of the comedy show ‘Comedy Night with Champion’ was made on Monday during a press conference held in the capital. In the event organized by Three Productions, details about the show’s new structure, setup, and plans were revealed.
Director and host Bishal Bhandari announced that the previously broadcasted ‘Comedy Club with Champion’ has been rebranded and will be presented to audiences in a new format. The show is being produced in collaboration with Sagun Pandey and Hiran Basnet.
The lineup of comedians set to perform on the show was also revealed. This season will feature Prabhat Lama, Bharatmani Paudel, Kailash Karki, Santosh Thapa, Pawan Bhattarai, Sajan Shrestha, Suman Karki, Maxam Goudel, and Suman Koirala, with Deepa Shree Niraula continuing as the chairperson.
The official broadcast date of the show has not yet been announced. However, Director Bhandari indicated that preparations are underway, and the date will be revealed soon. During the event, the trailer of the show was also premiered.
Chairperson Deepa Shree Niraula emphasized that the primary focus of the show is sustainability rather than just profitability, acknowledging that it is challenging to sustain a livelihood through comedy. However, she highlighted the importance of long-term impact, stating that their goal is to bring happiness to the audience. She also expressed that working with the new generation has been a learning experience for her.
Executive Director of Himalaya TV, Shyam Kandel, mentioned that efforts are being made to elevate the look, studio setup, scripting, and presentation to an international standard. “We are constantly striving to produce world-class content right here in Nepal,” he said, adding that they aim to connect more closely with the audience by incorporating diversity in the show based on viewers’ interests.
Kandel also announced that the show will be broadcast on Himalaya TV and streamed on the OSR Reality YouTube channel, with plans for a long-term collaboration. According to Director Bhandari, this season will feature 90-minute episodes, with a total of 52 episodes planned.
During the press conference, the show’s writers, including Santosh Khanal, Sandesh Devkota, and Rajanish Aryal, were introduced. They will play a crucial role in enhancing the comedic elements of the show.
