Kathmandu – Australia-based singer Rai has released his new song Rai: The Journey Begins during the Dashain festival.
Though his full name is Siddhartha Rai, the artist prefers to be known simply as Rai, branding himself with the slogan: “Rai is always Rai, we are all Nepali brothers.”
According to Rai, the song encapsulates his personal story of struggles, hopes, and dreams. “This song carries my own journey. Through words and melody, it portrays the emotions of millions of youths chasing their aspirations,” he shared.
With the vision of elevating Nepali music to a global standard, Rai recorded versions of the track across seven countries including the U.S. and several in Europe. However, he ultimately chose the version recorded in Australia for release. The production cost alone, he revealed, amounted to USD 50,000.
The music video, shot entirely in Australia, features city streets alongside concert-like atmospheres. To date, Rai has released nearly a dozen songs, consistently tying his musical identity to the brand name Rai. The latest track has been launched through his official YouTube channel RaiTunes.
