Veteran actor Neer Shah takes the lead role in the upcoming family drama ‘Paran’, which is set to release on Kartik 14 (October 31). The film tells an emotional story of a father who wishes to remain close to his son until his last breath.
Although she doesn’t play the central character, actress Anjana Barail, one of the busiest faces in the Nepali film industry in recent years, said she accepted the project not for the number of scenes but for its powerful theme.
“The only reason I joined this film is because of its subject matter. It’s one of those films I would personally seek out to watch,” said Barail. “Whatever work has been done is really good, and I’m very excited to watch it in theaters. During dubbing itself, I told the team that this film should be released during Dashain — something I rarely say.”
According to Barail, since Dashain and Tihar are family-oriented festivals, she had suggested releasing the film during that time, as it perfectly fits the festive mood.
“Considering the film’s tone and setting, it really should have been released during the festive period. But now, we’re bringing it out right after the festivals,” she added.
Barail believes ‘Paran’ will appeal to audiences of all age groups. While Neer Shah plays the leading role, she’s confident her own character will also leave a lasting impression.
“I portray a soft-natured woman in this film, and the different situations bring out various shades of her personality,” she explained. “My character, ‘Rupa,’ has a memorable charm. Once Neer Shah appears on screen, I follow right after. The role is strong, which is why I’ve been actively promoting the film.”
As the release date approaches, Barail remains calm and optimistic. She is confident that the film will win the audience’s hearts.
‘Paran’ marks the directorial debut of Deepak Prasad Acharya (Kaku). The story is written by Acharya himself, while the screenplay and dialogues are penned by Yam Thapa.
The film is produced under Bioscope Cinema Pvt. Ltd., a company jointly established by Nepal’s renowned business groups — Golchha Group and Prisma Group.
Along with Neer Shah, Mahesh Shah, and Anjana Barail, the cast includes Madan Krishna Shrestha, Pooja Chand, Keki Adhikari, Praveen Khatiwada, Buddhi Tamang, Yaseli Yonghang, Babin Rai, Pushparaj Ojha, Seema Kafle, Daman Rupakheti, Yaman Shrestha, Subrataraj Acharya, Suresh Thapa, Binod Rai, and child actor Aryadeep Acharya.
