A state-of-the-art RED MX camera has been provided to the Film Development Board for the upcoming Film Museum project.

For the first time in the Nepali film industry, the board is accelerating preparations for the museum with the goal of systematically preserving the country’s cinematic heritage.

The camera was handed over by Rajat Budhathoki, director of CineFocus Production House, under the guidance of cinematographer Purushottam Pradhan, who has been actively involved in the Nepali film industry for 16 years. The camera was received by the board’s chairman, Dinesh DC.

Chairman DC, while receiving the equipment, stated that this contribution is a significant addition to the campaign aimed at collecting and honoring the historical journey of Nepali cinema.

“The preservation of film history, technology, and contributions is no longer limited to paper—it is time to document it through tangible tools and equipment.”

According to the board, the museum will preserve historical artifacts including old cameras, production equipment, film posters, music materials, screenplays, and awards from the Nepali film industry.

This camera has been used in the cinematography of Nepali films such as “Mayaj Bar”, “Chh Ekān Chh”, and “Aja Pani”.

Rajat Budhathoki expressed his satisfaction in contributing to the preservation of Nepali film history and inspiring the next generation. His company, which started as a film business in Kathmandu, currently provides equipment rental and post-production services. CineFocus is recognized for its advanced lighting and equipment.

He further stated,

“The film industry is our identity. It is everyone’s responsibility to safeguard its history.”

The handover ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Samir Balami and Raghunath Sapkota of the Film Journalists Association.
