Director Nischal Basnet is in mourning following the death of his mother, Amrita Basnet, who passed away on Wednesday morning during treatment.
The late Basnet was the mother-in-law of actress Swastima Khadka.
The 71-year-old had been undergoing dialysis for the past 15 years and was recently diagnosed with pneumonia. She passed away while receiving treatment at Om Hospital. Her last rites are scheduled to take place today at Pashupati Aryaghat.
Upon learning of her mother-in-law’s critical condition, actress Swastima Khadka paused the shooting of her film “Lali Bazaar” and returned to Kathmandu immediately.
