“Kanhaiya–Anjana National Music Award 2082” and Anjana Gurung’s Solo Cultural Show Concluded

 Veteran Nepali singer Kamal B.K. ‘Nirmohi’ was honored with the “Kanhaiya–Anjana National Music Award 2082.

” The award, which includes a cash prize of Rs. 51,000, a certificate, and a traditional shawl, was presented in recognition of his long dedication and remarkable contribution to Nepali music.

Despite suffering from kidney disease in recent years, Nirmohi has remained active in music creation. His songs such as “Bulbul Talai Ma,” “Aau Ta Bhane,” “Maile Bhanthe Ni,” “Salal Bagne,” “Tane Jhai Maya,” “Aru Maile,” “Bheri Dobhan,” and “Lagyoo Maya” remain popular among audiences to this day. He is also a respected radio presenter.

The award ceremony, held in Kathmandu, was graced by Dinesh D.C., Chairman of the Film Development Board, as the chief guest. The event was attended by senior musicians, creators, journalists, and distinguished personalities from various fields.

Award patron Kanhaiya Singh Pariyar stated that the main objective of the award is to honor senior artists who have made significant contributions to Nepali music during their lifetime. He expressed, “This recognition aims to bring happiness to the hearts of artists and inspire them with new energy for future creations.”

Program coordinator and record-holding composer Santosh Shrestha highlighted the importance, relevance, and impact of the award.

Chief guest Dinesh D.C. remarked, “It is praiseworthy that the ‘Kanhaiya–Anjana National Music Award’ recognizes musicians with both monetary and honorary rewards. Such events motivate artists to stay creative and active.” He also expressed gratitude to Kanhaiya Singh Pariyar and Anjana Gurung for their contribution to Nepali music from abroad.

The event, managed by Era Production, was hosted by popular radio presenter Hem Subedi, with Madhav Kharel as the program’s member secretary and Geeta Singh, president of Tika Gopal M. Creation, as the chairperson.

Magical Solo Performance “Swarmadhuri” by Anjana Gurung Concluded Grandly

On the special occasion of the Kanhaiya–Anjana National Music Award 2082, senior singer Anjana Gurung, recipient of the title “Swarmadhuri”, delivered a mesmerizing solo musical performance.

She performed some of her most popular songs including “Aakhima Rakhchhu Mero Desh,” “Yastai Ho Maya Ma,” “Aandhi Sari Timro Maya,” “Gangarbe” (in Dhgurung language), “Jasle Muttuchundera Lagyo,” “Badnam Bhae Ma Timraik Karanle,” “Atom Bomb,” “Ma Ta Kali Sundari,” “Thyakkai Bhetaula,” and “Maili Rodhi Gharma.”

In the duet performance of “Thyakkai Bhetaula,” she was accompanied by singer–composer Kanhaiya Singh Pariyar. Her melodious voice and lively performance brought a nostalgic charm of classic Nepali music to the venue.

The show also featured captivating national and traditional Rodhi-style dance performances, adding more vibrancy to the evening. The choreography was directed by Jogendra K.C.
