Director Milan Chams’ upcoming romantic film ‘Sumnima’ marks the entry of a new actress into the Nepali film industry. The team recently returned from London after completing the first phase of shooting and officially introduced the film’s lead actress, Soul Gurung. Soul, who has been residing in London for a long time, makes her acting debut through this film, having previously worked as a model in several music videos.
Produced jointly by Gorkha Films and Chams Entertainment, the film’s title may suggest a female-centric story, but Director Chams has clarified that it is a purely romantic narrative. The main cast includes Sol Gurung, Kunsang Bamjan, Anup Bikram Shahi, Dhiren Shakya, Maotse Gurung, Suraj Tamoo, Akash Sunuwar, Salina Thapa, and Susma Subba.
According to Chams, the film will follow a universal storyline and is being developed with international markets in mind. The second phase of shooting for ‘Sumnima’, written by Rajiv Thapa, is scheduled to take place in Nepal.
Having previously directed successful films of various genres such as ‘Vir Bikram’, ‘Lili Billi’, ‘Blind Rocks’, ‘Babi’, ‘Gorkha Warrior’, and ‘Anjila’, Milan Chams has established himself as a strong filmmaker. His latest film ‘Anjila’ was a blockbuster and set a record as the highest-grossing film in Nepali cinema history.
