After Jhingedau became a box-office hit, director Gyanendra Deuja effectively silenced those who constantly talked about “new directors.”
He shut down the long-standing notion within the Nepali film fraternity that “veteran directors can’t deliver hits anymore.”
The success of Jhingedau gave Deuja renewed strength and confidence to continue his filmmaking journey. It reaffirmed why the Muna Madan fame director is still considered a “mark” director today.
The same film also gave actor Mukun Bhusal — who had gained attention through Bulbul — the first hit of his career.
Encouraged by the box-office success of the film based on the story by literary figure Bhimnidhi Tiwari, Deuja announced Jhingedau–2.
After announcing the sequel, there wasn’t much to think about regarding the lineup of actors.
However, the sudden appearance of news quoting Deuja saying, “I removed Mukun from the film,” has stirred discussions in the Nepali film circle — raising the question: why and for what reason?
According to the information received, Mukun’s shooting schedule clashed with another film. He had reportedly requested Deuja to postpone the shoot of Jhingedau–2, which was declined.
Following this disagreement, tension escalated between the two, and it is said that Deuja decided to ‘fire’ Mukun and ‘hire’ Mahesh Tripathi on the spot.
Reportedly, this “hire and fire” decision was made just today.
Although many have taken Mukun’s removal casually, Deuja’s open statement to the media — “I removed him” — has been viewed as rather unusual.
Was it really necessary? That’s the question many are now asking.
In the end, only Deuja and Bhusal truly know the full story.
