Actress Surakshya Pant, who has consistently earned praise for her acting, faced another major setback as her latest film “Dhago” was removed from theaters within just three days of release. The film, released on Friday, had no shows remaining anywhere in Nepal by Monday.
For Pant, “Dhago” marks her third flop film of the year.
Her streak of box-office failures has continued this year as well. Between April and November, four of her films were released:
April 24: Khel
August 28: Koshedhunga
October 17: Jerry on Top
November 13: Dhago
Among these, only “Jerry on Top” performed well commercially, but Pant received little credit due to her limited screen presence.
Her first release of the year, “Khel,” ran for just a week. The latest release, “Dhago,” was removed from most theaters within two days. On Sunday, it received only one nationwide show, and by Monday, the film had completely disappeared from theaters.
Similarly, Koshedhunga, directed by Saroj Paudel of Purna Bahadur ko Sarangi fame, also failed to recover its investment.
Pant’s latest film suffered heavily due to zero promotion. With almost no publicity, audiences were unaware that the film had even been released, leading to a complete box-office collapse.
