Renowned Nepali film producer Dilip Paudel passed away on Wednesday night. The 74-year-old died at 11:16 PM while undergoing treatment at Nepal Cancer Hospital in Lalitpur.
Paudel was known for producing films such as “Jwala”, featuring actors Rajesh Hamal, Sirjana Basnet, Sunil Thapa, Saroj Khanal, Kristi Mainali, Rupa Rana, Hariprasad Rimal, Harihar Sharma, Shubhadra Adhikari, Tika Pahadi, and Madandas Shrestha.
He also produced “Jeevan Sangharsha”, which starred Rajesh Hamal, Mithila Sharma, Yubaraj Lama, Ardhana Kshetri, and Utpala Khadka.
Apart from his contributions to the film industry, Paudel was a pioneer in legal literacy in Nepal, establishing the country’s first legal literacy center, Anand Lekhapadhi Center, in Dillibazar, Kathmandu. He also served as the founding president of the Nepal Legal Literacy Lawyers’ Association and managed Simpani Kabab houses in Kathmandu’s Om Shanti Chowk, Bhaktapur’s Dolechowk, and Itahari.
Paudel’s last rites were performed on Wednesday night at Pashupati Aryaghat.
