Saugat’s New Film ‘Bob Dai’ Begins Shooting as Prabin Returns to Direction After 12 Years

Shooting has officially begun for Saugat Malla’s upcoming film “Bob Dai”. Produced by Roteping Entertainment in collaboration with Shriram Balaji Films, the movie has a planned 45-day shooting schedule, starting from Chandragiri, with upcoming shoots set around Kirtipur and surrounding areas.

The film is directed by Prabin Shrestha, marking his return to filmmaking after a 12-year hiatus. According to Shrestha, “Bob Dai” is primarily based on a story from Kirtipur.

He explained the title, saying, “Bob Dai essentially means ‘Brother Bab.’ In Newar dialect, ‘Dai’ is used to address an elder brother, hence the name.” Saugat Malla will play the lead role.

The cast also includes Simran Pant, Santosh Pant, Bishal Pahadi, Pramod Agrahari, Kameshwar Chaurasia, Kushal Pokhrel, Yaman Shrestha, Krishna Bhakt Maharjan, Geeta Adhikari, Bhintuna Joshi, Nitesh Tandukar, Manoj Maharjan, and child actor Agrim Pandit.

The story is written by Manisha Gauchan and Prabin Shrestha. Tarkaraj Nyaupane serves as the chief assistant director, with Dinesh Bahadur Raut as assistant director. Cinematography is handled by Shyam Tamang’s team, while editing is by Prabin Shrestha.

Nirapesh Rupakheti is the casting director, Surendra Maharjan is the production manager, Royal Bhimsen designed the posters, and choreography is by Srishti Maharjan. Vivek Raj Bhatt and Ayush Dahal assist in direction.

Producers are Rajesh Ghimire, Roshan Bhattrai, and Sunil Manandhar, with Rabindra Prajapati as executive producer. The release date for “Bob Dai” has not yet been announced.
