The production team of “Harsha,” the directorial debut of Ekata Paudel, has begun an extensive promotional tour across various cities. On Friday, the team visited several schools and colleges in Jhapa to introduce the film and encourage young audiences to watch it in theatres.

Director Paudel, along with actors Khagendra Lamichhane and Barsha Raut, visited Lincoln College, Nidhi School, Balmiki School and Children’s School in Birtamode, where they shared insights about the film’s storyline and its focus on family-oriented themes.

At a time when family-centered films have become rare in Nepal, “Harsha” aims to revive the genre, as suggested by its promotional materials. Scheduled for release on November 27, the film reflects Paudel’s intention to address the declining trend of family dramas. Paudel, niece of the late filmmaker Shiva Regmi, said she chose this genre to “fill the gap that has long persisted in Nepali cinema.”

Paudel studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy, holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication, and a master’s degree in management and leadership. She has previously produced several short films.

The film features Khagendra Lamichhane, Barsha Raut, Simon, Nir Shah, Santosh Pant, Sharmila Malla, Maotse Gurung, Bishal Pahadi, Nima Pandey, Lunibha Tuladhar, Anshu Maharjan, Renu Pradhan, Suwarna Thapa, Srishti Maharjan, and Sirjana Napit. It includes cinematography by Alok Shukla, music by Samir–Himal, Basanta Sapkota and Elish Karki, editing by Lokesh Bajracharya, and choreography by Sunil Chhetri and director Paudel.

Produced under the banner of Astalaxmi Productions and E-Prime Movies, the film is written by Paudel herself. Prasanna Paudel and Bikash Paudel serve as producers, with Hikmat Chokhal as executive producer. The production manager is Ishwar Ghimire and the chief assistant director is Kuldeep Sharma. Kafiya Films and DCN will distribute the film, with Budha Subba Digital as the digital partner.
