The first official song of the upcoming Nepali romantic film Kumari, titled Kata Chhau Mero Phool, has been released. Alongside the song, the production team announced the film’s release date as Magh 23 (February 6), aiming to target young audiences around Valentine’s Day.
The song was performed live at a grand event in Tundikhel, which generated widespread attention on social media. Sung by Kehar Singh Limbu with his band Kehar & The Lunga, the track is gaining popularity among the Gen-Z audience on YouTube and TikTok.
The film features debut leads Abishek Khadka and Akriti Rajbhandari. The cast also includes Ghanshyam Joshi, Sunita Shrestha, Akanksha Karki, Madhu Khadka, Sanam Shrestha, Saku Shah, Saroj Lamichhane, and Manisha Sharma.
Director Dinesh Raut, known for his successful romantic films such as I Am Sorry, November Rain, and Classic, returns to the romance genre after focusing on socially themed films in recent years.
Kumari will feature four songs, all sung by Kehar Singh Limbu, with music contributions from Suman Tamang and Prashant Shivakoti. Lyrics were written by Sagar Lamichhane Magar, Suman Tamang, and Yubaraj Kafle.
The film is jointly produced by Binish Entertainment and Picture Frame, with Mahendra Adhikari as producer and Kedar Bhusal as executive producer. Script development is by Bikash Suvedi, cinematography by Susan Prajapati, editing and color grading by Suprim Parajuli, sound design by Uttam Nyaupane, choreography by Kiran Thapa and Shishir Khati, production design by Ashika Sharma, and costume design by Anjali Rizal.
Digital distribution will be handled by Motion Pictures, while theatrical distribution within Kathmandu Valley is by DCN and outside the valley by Kuver Cine Distribution.
