‘Abhimanyu: Chapter–1’ received overwhelming praise during its premiere held on Monday evening at QFX, Labim Mall, Lalitpur. Viewers and attending artists applauded the film’s storytelling, suspense elements, and performances.
Artists present at the premiere noted that the film keeps the audience engaged with continuous curiosity and a well-crafted narrative supported by strong performances.
Reactions from Cast and Industry Figures
Actor Divyadev Pant lauded the film’s screenplay, direction, and performances, highlighting the strong portrayal of female characters.
“This film breaks the traditional way women were portrayed in Nepali cinema,” he said.
Pant also praised producer Binod Paudel for investing in capable artists and a strong script rather than relying on mainstream stars.
Director Soviet Basnet observed a shift in Nepali cinema, saying,
“Earlier, films used to succeed because of stars. Now, films succeed because of artists.”
He emphasized the powerful performance of Kameshwor Chaurasiya, adding that the film deserves to succeed.
Actresses React
Actress Aliasha Bastola said she felt the film had the potential to become a blockbuster.
“Like we watch South Indian films with excitement, this film keeps you hooked till the end,” she remarked.
Actress Rusha Neupane appreciated the film for breaking away from the ongoing trend of family dramas, calling it a refreshing female-centric suspense thriller.
Actress Laxmi Bardewa revealed that she filmed her scenes during pregnancy, adding that the film turned out even better than she expected after reading the script.
Similarly, Sarita Giri expressed happiness that the film centers on women while depicting supportive male characters.

The film is directed by Sushant Gautam, with Madan Thapa as creative director and Mukesh Khanal as the writer.
Producers include Binod Paudel and Gunjan Giri, with co-producers Ramesh Chaulagain and Hari Shrestha.
Executive producers are Bishal Lama, Hari Moktan, Krishna Bhattarai, Nirajan Luintel, and Sandesh Shrestha.
The film features Jeewan Shakya as line producer, Sharad Mahato as DOP, Manoj Shrestha for VFX, Junim Gahtoraj for color grading, and Madan Ghimire as editor.
Release Plan
‘Abhimanyu: Chapter–1’ will release this Thursday across Nepal and is set for a worldwide release in both Nepali and Hindi languages.
