The teaser of the upcoming Nepali film ‘Bigul’, scheduled for release on January 23 (Magh 9), was unveiled on Sunday. The one-and-a-quarter-minute teaser has successfully generated curiosity among audiences.
Already gaining attention through its first-look poster, the teaser presents a compelling depiction of Nepal’s current political climate, patriotism, social responsibility, relationships, and the Gen Z movement. The film is directed by Ramesh Koirala, with Dinesh Koirala serving as both the writer and producer.
At a time when films with similar themes dominate the market, ‘Bigul’ aims to stand out by blending politics, family, society, relationships, and entertainment into a single narrative. Director Koirala believes the film will not only entertain but also encourage viewers to reflect on the political and social realities shaping their homes, communities, and the nation.
“We made ‘Bigul’ with the belief that films should be viewed not only as entertainment but also as a medium for thought,” says senior director Koirala, known for films such as Man Manma, Leela, and Neermaya. “Cinema can play a vital role in making citizens more responsible toward their country and society.”
Producer and writer Dinesh Koirala adds that the core issues raised in ‘Bigul’ closely resonate with the demands of the Gen Z generation and the collective aspiration of Nepalis for development and change. Dedicated to the Gen Z movement, the film features performances by Benisha Hamal, Naren Khadka, Ramesh Budhathoki, Neer Shah, Saroj Khanal, Hemant Budhathoki, Shishir Wangdel, Binod Nyaupane, JN Ghimire, Geeta Adhikari, Meera Pandit, and Manshree Sharma, among others.
Produced under the banner of Magnolia Group and presented by Kalpana Paudel, the film’s screenplay and dialogues are written by Pradeep Bhardwaj and Maunata Shrestha. The technical team includes cinematographer Shiva Dhakal, choreographers Kamal Rai and Kabiraj Gahatraj, action director NV Maharjan, and music by Bishwaprakash Sharma, Arjun Pokharel, and Manoj Chaulagain. Editing is handled by Tara Thapa ‘Kimbhe’.
The film is co-produced by Suryakant Koirala and Mahesh Koirala, with distribution by Kafiya Films and Shree Banquets Entertainment.
