Kathmandu — After its theatrical release, director Shobhit Basnet’s film PR is set to premiere on the OTT digital platform MSM Video. An official agreement regarding the digital release was signed on Thursday between Basnet and representatives of MSM Video.
According to the director, the film will begin streaming on the platform from January 10. Basnet said the decision aims to reach audiences who were unable to watch the film in cinemas.
“Not every place has access to movie halls, and many viewers complained that they missed the film due to the lack of theatres,” Basnet said. “Considering this, we decided to release the film through a digital platform.”
In recent times, viewership on OTT platforms has been steadily increasing, with several Nepali films already released on MSM Video.
The film received positive feedback during its premiere and theatrical run. Prominent figures from the Nepali film industry, including Film Development Board Chair Dinesh DC, director Deepashree Niraula, actors Gauri Malla, Karishma KC, Rekha Thapa, Jay Kishan Basnet and others, praised the film at its premiere.
PR narrates the struggle of Nepali youths in Australia striving to obtain permanent residency. Most of the film was shot in Australia. Basnet said the film encourages families back home to reflect on the emotional and practical challenges faced by their children abroad.
Produced under the Salon Salina Films banner, the film stars R.A. Suraj Paudel, Binita Karki, Rajan Kunwar, Pooja Chaudhary, Ashma Adhikari Mastani, Bimala Khatri and others in lead roles, with Neer Shah, Gauri Malla and Uttam KC Nepal appearing in special roles. The film is edited by Bande Prasad, written by Ganesh Budhathoki, and will be distributed by RR Films.
