Kathmandu — Director Rajan Bhusal is set to make his acting debut in the upcoming Nepali film ‘Zero Degree’, starring popular actor Vijay Baral in the lead role. Bhusal, who also serves as the film’s story writer, is best known for directing ‘Aktor: Take One’.
‘Zero Degree’ is jointly directed by Sajan Kafle and Aakash Baral, the duo previously acclaimed for their film ‘Behuli From Meghauli’.
Produced under the banner of Meghauli Films, the screenplay and dialogues of ‘Zero Degree’ have been written by the directing duo. The film is set in a remote village with no road access, where a deep freezer is carried into the village to preserve a deceased couple’s bodies until their children arrive from abroad. The unusual situation leads to a series of chaotic and unexpected events.
According to the directors, the film goes beyond the logistical challenge of transporting the freezer and uses a dark comedy approach to expose deeper social realities and ironies.
Previously released posters of the film highlighted the deep freezer as the central narrative symbol rather than focusing on the actors’ faces.
The film’s executive producer is Moti Karki. Currently in pre-production, the team is scouting locations for filming. ‘Zero Degree’ is scheduled for release next year, with Kubera Cine Distribution handling its theatrical distribution.
Cinematography will be handled by Nishal Paudel, while music will be composed by Ankit Babu Adhikari. Lyrics will be written by Yuvraj Kafle, known for the popular song ‘Kafle’ from the film ‘Unko Sweater’.
