Kathmandu — The on-screen pairing of Dayahang Rai and Sirjana Ninglekhu is set to return with the upcoming film ‘Mirmire,’ scheduled for release on Magh 1. The duo was previously seen together in ‘Karsang,’ also directed by Yam Sherpa, making this their second collaboration under the same director.
Explaining why he chose to repeat the same lead pair in his second film, director Yam Sherpa said that working with familiar actors brings comfort and creative clarity. “Once you have worked together, you understand an actor’s process, discipline, and temperament. It makes the second collaboration much easier,” he said, adding that Dayahang Rai’s popularity among audiences was another key factor.
Sherpa revealed that the characters in Mirmire were conceived with Dayahang and Sirjana in mind from the very beginning. “The story itself demanded actors like them. Since we had already worked together, the triangular collaboration between director and lead actors naturally came together again,” he explained.
Written and directed by Yam Sherpa, Mirmire also stars Prakash Saput in a lead role, marking his first collaboration with Dayahang Rai. Shaisa Gauchan plays Dayahang’s daughter in the film.
The recently released teaser highlights a father’s struggle for his daughter after the mother leaves home. It portrays a single father juggling childcare, household responsibilities, his daughter’s schooling, and his job—all alone. The emotional bond between father and daughter forms the heart of the film.
Presented by Yarsa Films, Mirmire features an ensemble cast including Mao Tse Gurung, Chhulthim Gurung, Bholaraj Sapkota, Divisha Pant, Chirag Shrestha, and Namanraj Gajurel. The film is produced by Nimu Sherpa, Chhongba Lama Sherpa, and Angchhiring Sherpa, with RR Films’ Rohit Kattel serving as the executive producer. The nationwide distribution is being handled by RR Films, operated by Rohit Kattel and Ratna Shrestha.
