The Nepali film ‘Jharipachhiko Indreni’ has collected NPR 6.269 million in gross revenue at the domestic box office so far. Despite extensive promotion and public attention, the film’s earnings have fallen short of expectations.
According to the Film Development Board (Sinepa), the movie earned a total of NPR 6,269,475 as of last Saturday, Poush 12. During this period, the film—directed by Arjun Ghimire ‘Pande’—sold 19,793 tickets nationwide.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah played an active role in promoting the film. Beyond promotional support, he also facilitated the release of the song ‘Fasayo Lamile’ through his own YouTube channel. However, while other songs from the channel garnered millions of views, this track received relatively very very low engagement. It was later re-released on the OSR Digital channel, where it managed to attract only 124,000 views in two weeks.
The production team had high expectations from the song. Additionally, Mayor Shah himself sang a song for the film. Nevertheless, despite these promotional efforts, the film failed to achieve the anticipated box office success.
Critics attribute the film’s underperformance mainly to weak screenplay and direction, which did not resonate well with audiences.
