The Ujyaalo Nepal Party has recommended renowned singer and medical doctor Trishala Gurung as a proportional representation candidate for the upcoming House of Representatives election.
According to the party, Gurung was nominated based on her professional expertise, commitment to healthcare reform, and advocacy for inclusive politics. The party has identified unequal access to healthcare, rising treatment costs, shortages of medical personnel in rural areas, and ineffective implementation of the health budget as major challenges facing Nepal’s healthcare system.
Citing her clinical experience and policy understanding, the party expressed confidence that Gurung would raise practical and evidence-based debates on healthcare issues in Parliament.
In addition to her medical background, Gurung is an established singer who has long contributed to social awareness through art and culture. The party believes that her multidimensional identity—bridging health and cultural consciousness—will ensure distinctive and effective representation in the legislature.
Following her recommendation, Gurung reaffirmed her commitment to advocating in Parliament for good governance, inclusive policymaking, and a responsive healthcare system, emphasizing that “healthcare is a fundamental right of citizens.”
