The Ujyaalo Nepal Party has recommended Naqim Uddin, chief of QFX Cinemas and a prominent film exhibitor, as a proportional representation candidate for the House of Representatives election.
According to Vikas Gurung, campaign coordinator for Kathmandu Constituency No. 5, Uddin’s name was proposed with the objective of leveraging his long-standing experience in the creative industries, private sector, and film exhibition at the national policymaking level.
“Film and creative industries are not limited to entertainment alone. They are directly linked to employment generation, tourism promotion, and the overall economy,” Gurung said, adding that the party believes the involvement of an experienced business leader like Uddin would contribute to policy reform and result-oriented politics.
Uddin, who has made significant contributions to film production and cinema exhibition, has also been actively engaged in social, economic, and policy-related discussions in recent years.
The party stated that his recommendation aligns with its strategy of ensuring representation from diverse professional sectors through the proportional representation list. According to party central member and filmmaker Shri Gurung, the party has finalized the names of 110 candidates under the proportional representation system.
