Kathmandu — The film ‘Aa Bata Aama’, starring Bipana Thapa and Paul Shah in lead roles, will feature a song in the Newari language. The production team has recorded a Newari version of the popular song ‘Laija Khabar Ae Hawa’, which has gained wide attention since its release.

Targeting the Newari community, director Chandra Pant decided to present the song in Newari. The Newari version has been sung by Yaman Shrestha. Originally written by Babul Giri and performed in Nepali, Yaman said he felt deeply honored to sing the song in Newari.

“I had been listening to this song on YouTube, and it has become very popular,” Yaman said. “The ‘Aa Bata Aama’ team offered me the chance to record it in Newari. When they asked me to adapt the lyrics myself, I sought help from my father, Madan Krishna Shrestha, who translated the song into Newari.”

Yaman said the recording process was emotionally intense, adding that collaborating with his father made the experience even more meaningful. “The song’s visuals in the film are very emotional. While singing it in Newari, I found myself deeply moved,” he said.

The Nepali version of the song has been sung by Ravi Oad. The film’s story revolves around the emotions of parents in Nepal as their children prepare to go abroad.

Director Pant said recording the song in Newari is part of a different promotional approach and expressed confidence that it will resonate well with Newari-speaking audiences. He also revealed that discussions are underway to record the song in other languages as well.

Produced under the banner of Arya Entertainment, the film features performances by Bipana Thapa, Paul Shah, Pradeep Rawat, Usha Upreti, Simran Pant, Saigres Pokharel, Gajit Bista, and Begam Nepali, among others. The cast and production team are currently engaged in extensive promotional activities.

Written and directed by Chandra Pant, the film features music by Koshish Chhetri, Babul Giri, and Thaneshwor Gautam. The songs are choreographed by Gambhir Bista and Dilip Okheda, with cinematography by Navaraj Upreti.

The film has been edited by Milan Shrestha, while its trailer and teaser were produced by Sahil Khan. ‘Aa Bata Aama’ is scheduled for release on Magh 16, with RR Films handling theatrical distribution in Nepal and OSR Digital holding the digital rights.
