‘Gobar Ganesh’ Trailer Sidelines Barsha Shiwakoti, Trailer Itself Contradicts Balchhi’s Claims

Kathmandu — The trailer of the film ‘Gobar Ganesh’ was released on Friday, Magh 1. The trailer launch event was attended by lead actors Marichman Shrestha aka Balchhi Dhurbe, Sita Ghimire, Buddhi Tamang, Mao Tse Gurung, Binod Nyaupane, Barsha Shiwakoti, Pujan Ghimire, Padam Tamang, Santosh Bania and others.

Since the film’s announcement, the production team had actively fueled discussions over whether Barsha Shiwakoti or Pujan Ghimire would be paired with Marichman, projecting both as having significant roles. Both actors had also publicly hinted at their strong presence in the film.

However, the nearly three-minute-long trailer tells a different story. Barsha and Pujan appear only briefly, making their previously claimed importance hardly noticeable.

At the trailer launch, Barsha Shiwakoti faced questions over her limited screen presence despite being one of the most talked-about faces of the film. She responded by directing the question to the production team.

Writer, director and producer Balchhi Dhurbe attempted to justify the situation, saying the film is centered on a mother–son relationship. However, his explanation does not align with what is shown in the trailer, which offers little emphasis on that emotional bond.

Instead, the trailer prioritizes loosely connected comedic dialogues and scenes seemingly designed to assure audiences that the film is humorous, rather than presenting a clear narrative or emotional arc.

Overall, the trailer falls short of the structure expected from a film trailer. It appears more like a compilation of jokes than a cohesive introduction to the story.

The editing has not only weakened the trailer but also left some actors in an awkward position. Whether the film itself will offer a stronger and more satisfying experience than its trailer remains to be seen.
