One-Day Film Storywriting Workshop Concludes at Nepal Film Campus

A one-day basic workshop on film storywriting, organized by Nepal Film Campus with the support of the Film Development Board, concluded successfully on January 2 (Poush 19). The workshop was held at Nepal Film Campus, Pingalasthan, Gaushala.

The workshop saw the participation of 25 trainees interested in storywriting. The training was facilitated by Keshav Pandey, a postgraduate from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), who currently serves as the Head of the Direction and Screenwriting Department at Nepal Film Campus.

The session covered film narrative theory, fundamental elements of storytelling, character development, and the overall writing process, combining both theoretical insights and practical exercises.

According to the organizers, due to the high level of interest and a large number of applications, second and third phases of the workshop will be conducted in the months of Magh and Falgun. Additionally, ten outstanding participants will be selected from among the trainees to attend an advanced screenwriting workshop.

The closing ceremony and certificate distribution program was held under the chief guestship of Dinesh DC, Chairman of the Film Development Board. Speaking at the event, Chairman DC expressed confidence that such workshops empower the younger generation creatively and contribute significantly to the long-term development of the Nepali film industry. He emphasized that strong stories and screenplays are key to elevating the quality of Nepali cinema.
