Kathmandu — The documentary Dimag Ghochne Manche, based on the life of inspirational figure Ujjwal Thapa, highlighting civic awareness, alternative politics, entrepreneurship, and social transformation, has successfully premiered.
The special premiere was held on January 7 (Poush 23) at QFX Labim Mall, Lalitpur. Following the premiere, the documentary is currently being screened in cinemas across Nepal.
Running for 1 hour and 30 minutes, the premiere event was attended by Prime Minister Suresh Karki, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel, former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, former ministers, political leaders, civil society members, family, and well-wishers.
The documentary chronicles Thapa’s childhood, overseas education, his return to Nepal, the civic awareness campaigns he initiated, and his contributions to alternative politics. Through interviews with family members, friends, and collaborators, along with documentation of his campaigns, the film delivers the message that meaningful social change is possible through individual activism.
More than Rs 6.5 million was raised from the general public for the production of the documentary. The foundation stated that details of all income and expenditures have been made publicly available with full transparency on the Ujjwal Thapa Foundation’s website.
Produced by the Ujjwal Thapa Foundation, the documentary is presented by Dream Wizard and directed by Sudip Aatreya.
Speakers at the premiere described Ujjwal Thapa as a representative voice of civic consciousness, a source of inspiration for youth, and a symbol of the potential for alternative political thought.
The documentary has been screening nationwide since January 9 (Poush 25).
