The Nepali film Gobar Ganesh has received clearance from the Central Film Censor Board. The board has awarded the film a ‘U’ (Universal) certificate, allowing viewers of all age groups to watch it. The film is scheduled for a nationwide release on Magh 1, coinciding with Maghe Sankranti.
Directed by and starring popular comedian Marichman Shrestha, also known as ‘Balchhi Dhurve’, Gobar Ganesh was approved by the censor board on Monday. With a universal rating, the film can be enjoyed by audiences ranging from children to senior citizens.
The story revolves around a village youth who is weak in academics and moves to Kathmandu in search of a better life. The film portrays his struggle to transform his life, blending humor with social and emotional elements.
Amid strong buzz generated by its posters, trailer and songs, the positive response from the censor board has boosted the morale of the production team. Director Shrestha said board members responded positively, stating that the film was well made.
Produced under the banner of Balchhi Dhurve Films, the cast includes Barsha Shiwakoti, Binod Neupane, Padam Tamang, Nirmal Sharma, Laxminath Timilsina, Santosh Baniya, Sandip Lama, Mao Tse Gurung, Sita Devi Timilsina, Pujan Ghimire (Puku), Buddhi Tamang, Bishal Pahadi, Ramesh Budhathoki and Swastika Lamichhane.
The film features Taranath Neupane as chief assistant director, Yogesh Kaji Shah for background score, Shankar Pandey in production, Shivaram Shrestha as director of photography, and Bipin Malla as editor.
Publicity design is handled by Tauwa Studio, with OSR Digital as the digital partner. Nationwide distribution in Nepal will be managed by Shree Backstage Entertainment.
