The first phase of shooting for the film Roll No. 1, produced under the banner of Seven Seas Cinema, has been completed.

The main portion of the film was shot over 42 days across scenic and rural locations of Myagdi district. The shoot began on December 1 (Mangsir 15) following a two-week workshop and was initially planned for 45 days.

Producer Binod Paudel said the first schedule was wrapped up close to the planned timeline despite adverse weather conditions and technical challenges. He noted that extreme cold in the Himalayan district posed major difficulties for the shooting crew.

“While actors managed, the technical team suffered the most due to the cold,” Paudel said. “Night shoots were particularly challenging as temperatures dropped sharply after 10 pm.”

Paudel added that no compromises were made on quality and that the remaining scenes will be filmed in Kathmandu after a short break.

Directed and written by Jon Yonjan, Roll No. 1 is based entirely on child psychology. The film explores the impact of social pressure, false prestige, and the ‘must-win’ mindset commonly seen among students.

The film’s first-look poster, released last year, featured a poignant image of a young boy raising his hand in a classroom, drawing significant attention.

The cast includes Mukun Bhusal, Sushank Mainali, Renu Yogi, Sirjana Adhikari, and Nirbhik Regmi in lead roles. Addressing serious issues related to child education and psychology within a commercial framework, Roll No. 1 is being viewed as a meaningful film.

The release date has yet to be announced, with the production team stating it will be finalized only after the completion of post-production work.
