The Film Development Board (FDB) has successfully completed a training program on the Film Development Fee Portal for cinema halls operating within the Kathmandu Valley.

The two-day training, held on January 11 and 12 (Poush 28–29), saw participation from 38 representatives of 27 cinema halls. On the first day, 18 representatives from 13 cinema halls attended, while the second day included 20 representatives from 14 halls.

The training covered existing legal provisions related to the film development fee, its current implementation status, the necessity and relevance of a digital portal, and the effectiveness of the portal in fee management. Participants were also provided hands-on training alongside theoretical orientation on the portal’s usage.

Speaking at the program, FDB Chairperson Dinesh DC expressed confidence that the digital portal would make the fee collection and management process more transparent, efficient, and accountable.
“Our priority is to systematize fee management through digital technology and connect the film industry with modern systems,” he said. “This portal will play a significant role in the institutional development of the industry in the long run.”

The Board stated that similar training programs have already been conducted for cinema halls in Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Lumbini, and Chitwan district of Bagmati Province. Training for cinema halls in Gandaki Province is scheduled from January 16 to January 21 (Magh 2–7).

According to the Film Development Board, these training initiatives aim to integrate the film industry into a digital system and make the fee management process more organized, transparent, and effective.
