Nepal has launched its first-ever advanced, international-standard Dolby Atmos sound mixing training in Kathmandu.
The program is organized by Music Nepal with active support from the Film Development Board and co-organized by the Audio Visual Society of Nepal (AVSN).
The intensive training is being conducted at ‘Sagarmatha,’ a Dolby-certified audio sound mixing studio established by Music Nepal, targeting sound mixing professionals working in the Nepali film industry. Renowned Dolby-certified sound engineer Bharat Reddy from the Indian film industry has arrived in Nepal to lead the training.
Reddy has worked on major films including 3 Idiots, Saiyaara, Pushpa, Sitaare Zameen Par, Thama, Dhurandhar, and the upcoming Toxic. He is an officially certified Dolby trainer.
Prior to the training, Film Development Board Chairperson Dinesh DC and board member Birendra Prasad Bhatt welcomed Reddy with a bouquet and a copy of Filming in Nepal. DC expressed confidence that the training would elevate the technical quality of Nepali cinema to international standards.
The ‘Sagarmatha’ studio is one of only 10 Dolby-certified studios in South Asia and Nepal’s first Dolby Atmos sound mixing facility.
According to Music Nepal, the studio will be officially inaugurated on January 16 (Magh 2) at Pingalasthan, Gaushala, Kathmandu, in the presence of Nepali filmmakers. Once operational, the studio is expected to offer Nepali audiences a world-class cinematic sound experience comparable to international films.
