Kathmandu — The film Mirmire, starring Dayahang Rai, premiered today, coinciding with the Maghe Sankranti festival. The movie focuses on the emotional bond between a father and daughter and a triangular love story.
Commenting on his role, Dayahang Rai said he joined Mirmire to challenge the notion that Nepali actors lack passion.
Written and directed by Yam Sherpa and presented by Yarsa Films, the film features Dayahang Rai, Prakash Saput, Sirjana Ninglekhu, Mao Tse Gurung, Chhulthim Gurung, Bholaraj Sapkota, Bimal Yadav, Shaisa Gauchan, Divisha Pant, Chirag Shrestha, and Namanraj Gajurel.
Producers include Nimu Sherpa, Chongba Lama Sherpa, and Angchhiring Sherpa, with co-producers Govind Bohara and Sudip Kunwar. Rohit Kattel of RR Films serves as executive producer.
Line producer Birendra Shahi, chief assistant director Sudip Kunwar, makeup artist Sanju Thalang Limbu, and production controller Dilip Pant were also part of the crew. Distribution is handled by Rohit Kattel and Ratna Shrestha’s RR Films.
With a runtime of 105 minutes, Mirmire has over 150 shows across Nepal. QFX multiplexes in Kathmandu are screening 16 shows, 23–16 shows in regional cinemas, INI’s six outlets have 11 shows, Big Movies 3 shows, Fcube Cinema 5 shows, and Wan Cinema’s two outlets 9 shows.
