Kathmandu – The Nepali film ‘Viral Gorkhe’, which premiered in Nepali theaters on Magh 1, is now set to release in several cities across India. The film, entering its second week from Friday, will soon reach Indian audiences.
Producer Amit Shrestha confirmed that a verbal agreement has been made with an Indian company for the release. The company is expected to visit Nepal in the coming days to finalize a written agreement.
The film will screen in Indian cities with significant Nepali-speaking populations, including Delhi, Darjeeling, Siliguri, Gangtok, Kalimpong, Karsyang, and Assam. Following its strong reception in Nepal, the Indian distributor approached the production team for release.
According to the production team, all preparations for the Indian release are complete, with processes moving forward upon signing the formal agreement. High audience demand in Nepali theaters is also reflected in ticket booking websites.
The film highlights the struggles and quirky actions of the main character Saugat Malla (Gorkhe), whose story went viral on social media. Saugat stars opposite Srishti Shrestha, and the engaging trailer has already generated excitement among viewers.
Directed by Nigam Shrestha, who previously helmed films like ‘Chhadke’, ‘Lalpurja’, and ‘Chhadke 2’, ‘Viral Gorkhe’ showcases his directorial skills while offering audiences a relevant, relatable, and homegrown story.
Produced under the banners of AK Brother Company, The GMI Academy, and Nirbhana Film School, the film features Saugat, Srishti, Buddhi Tamang, Lakshmi Giri, Rajaram Paudel, Rishi Dhamala, Ravi Bhujel, and Miss Pavi.
