Kathmandu. The psychological drama–thriller The Blue Light, directed by debut filmmaker Baliram Chauhan, is set to release in cinemas across Nepal from Magh 16. The film has already generated curiosity among audiences prior to its release.

According to Chauhan, the film is not just for casual viewing but is meant to be deeply experienced. It explores the complexity of the human mind, loneliness, and the thin line between reality and illusion.

While many viewers initially assumed from the trailer that the film belonged to the horror genre, the director clarified:

“Our film is not horror. It is a psychological drama–thriller. Some scenes may evoke fear, but the core remains psychological.”

At a time when many new directors enter and quickly disappear from the Nepali film industry, Chauhan says he has come prepared for a long journey rather than overnight fame.

The film stars Benisha Hamal and Arpan Thapa in lead roles, with the story revolving around their characters. Chauhan claims that despite a strong ensemble cast, there were no role-related disputes, and each actor found freshness in their character.

The film presents themes of love, betrayal, and revenge in a new style, promising a unique emotional and cinematic experience.

Main cast includes Benisha Hamal, Arpan Thapa, Ayushman Desraj Joshi, Srishti Shrestha, Mahesh Tripathi, and Suraksha Itani. Child actors Grisma Katuwal and Sahara Sharma also appear

Presented by Skyfall Pictures, the film’s co-producers are Bholanath Katuwal and Raman Gray. Executive producers include cinematographer Narendra Mainali and actress Benisha Hamal.
Cinematography is by Narendra Mainali, chief assistant director is Aakash Ukheda, production design by Reliza Shrestha, and production controller Dilip Pant.

The Blue Light marks Baliram Chauhan’s directorial debut.
