The much-anticipated Nepali film ‘Kumari,’ directed by Dinesh Raut, is set for nationwide release on Magh 23. Ahead of its theatrical run, Raut has issued a technical advisory letter to cinema theatre technicians and projectionists regarding the film’s sound presentation.

According to the production team, ‘Kumari’ has been mixed in advanced immersive audio formats to deliver a high-quality cinematic sound experience. The sound design is optimized for theatres equipped with Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and AuroMax technologies.

Raut stated that the film’s sound mixing and mastering were completed at a reference level of fader unit 5.5. This level was chosen to preserve the natural dynamics of the audio and provide audiences with a realistic and impactful sound experience.

The team has already conducted trial screenings at the 5.5 fader unit level in selected theatres prior to release. To maintain the intended cinematic impact, theatres have been requested not to screen the film below this volume reference.

In the letter, Raut wrote:
“We designed the sound creatively based on the 5.5 fader unit reference. To ensure audiences receive the best possible experience, we strongly request theatres to conduct a mandatory test run before commercial screenings.”

With its high technical standards, ‘Kumari’ is expected to set a new benchmark in sound design for Nepali cinema. The film stars Abhishek Khadka and Aakriti Rajbhandari in lead roles and is produced by Mahendra Adhikari. The project has generated notable excitement among both audiences and theatre exhibitors.
