‘Gobar Ganesh’ Fails to Recover Budget in Theatres — How Much Has It Earned So Far?

The Nepali film Gobar Ganesh, produced on an estimated budget of nearly Rs 20 million, has failed to meet box office expectations and is now considered a commercial flop.

According to available box office data, the film has so far earned only about Rs 14 million gross. Analysts say recovering the investment through theatrical release alone looks highly unlikely, leaving producers facing potential losses.

After a slow opening, the number of shows has gradually declined. Based on its current box office pace, a significant surge in earnings in the coming days appears unlikely.

A film made on a budget of around Rs 20 million typically needs to earn at least Rs 50–60 million gross to be considered commercially safe. Gobhar Ganesh remains far below that benchmark.

Presented by Balchhi Dhurbe Films, the movie stars Marichman Shrestha (Balchhi Dhurbe) and Barsha Siwakoti in lead roles. The cast also includes Binod Neupane, Padam Tamang, Nirmal Sharma, Laxminath Timilsina, Santosh Baniya, Sandip Lama, Maotse Gurung, Sitadevi Timilsina, Pujan Ghimire (Puku), Buddhi Tamang, Bishal Pahadi, Ramesh Budhathoki, and Swastika Lamichhane, among others.
